Insurers in the Netherlands are reporting a significant increase in damage claims following severe weather over the weekend, which prompted orange weather alerts nationwide. The regions around Utrecht and Amsterdam, and particularly Hilversum, have experienced the highest concentration of reports. Achmea’s Centraal Beheer and Interpolis have received approximately 2600 claims, nearly double the number from a similar weather event in June. NN Group has also seen a rise in claims, with around 950 reports, primarily concerning hail damage to vehicles and homes, and an additional 400 through its ABN Amro partnership. While Univé has received fewer claims – 330 totaling €350,000 – it still represents an increase, though less dramatic than other insurers. The damage reported includes broken skylights, vehicle damage, and, in some cases, issues related to backed-up sewage.
