A powerful hailstorm struck areas west of České Budějovice in South Bohemia on Monday afternoon. The storm developed rapidly from a cluster of weaker thunderstorms, coalescing into a single, dominant cell. Intense hail fell between Strážkovice and Nová Ves, accumulating to several centimeters in depth on roads and creating hazardous conditions. The accumulation resembled a winter landscape, despite occurring at the beginning of meteorological summer. Authorities have not yet reported any injuries, but traffic was temporarily impacted by the unusual weather event. The storm moved eastward, and conditions are currently improving in the affected region.
