Senegal’s National Assembly unanimously ratified the lists of members for its standing commissions, enacting two significant changes in leadership. The ratification occurred following the opening of the sole ordinary session, with members now tasked with establishing their respective bureau structures. While most commission bureaux remain consistent, the Pastef/Les Patriotes parliamentary group opted to replace the president of the Finance Committee, appointing Alphonse Mané Sambou in place of Chérif Ahmed Dicko. Additionally, Abdou Mbow has been appointed as the new president of the Economic Affairs Committee, succeeding Abdou Karim Sall, the mayor of Mbao. These changes reflect the dynamics within the National Assembly, particularly the influence of Pastef/Les Patriotes, which controls a majority of the commissions following the November 2024 legislative elections, and Takku Wallu, the sole opposition group. This session marks the third year of the legislature installed in December 2024.
