Senegal’s Minister of Livestock, Ousmane Diagne, has publicly endorsed President Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s newly formed political party, “Kiiraay – Les Patriotes Républicains” (The Patriotic Republicans). Diagne attributes the growing support for the party to a widespread belief that Faye prioritizes the nation over partisan interests. He described a “recomposition” of the political landscape fueled by mass rallies to the new party. Diagne defended the enthusiasm, stating Senegalese citizens recognize Faye's commitment to republican values and safeguarding the country’s institutions. He also justified the party’s name, asserting that patriotism isn’t exclusive to any single political group. Diagne emphasized that true patriotism requires prioritizing the Republic and national unity, dismissing claims of any monopoly on patriotic sentiment.
