A fisherman from Mbour, Badara Diop, was sentenced to six months in prison after robbing a prostitute in Saly Portudal. Diop initially sought out S. Marigo, a local sex worker, in July 2026, agreeing to pay 5,000 CFA francs for her services. However, he then stole Marigo’s handbag containing her evening’s earnings while at her home. Alerted by Marigo's cries, neighbors pursued and apprehended Diop, handing him over to authorities. He initially denied the accusations but later confessed and asked for leniency. The prosecutor requested a two-year sentence, with six months to be served, and the court ultimately agreed on the six-month prison term, while Marigo did not seek compensation.
