Aminata Touré has publicly challenged Ousmane Sonko’s explanation regarding the use of political funds during his time as Prime Minister. Touré directly questioned Sonko's justification for using the funds, pointing out his previous stance against administrative vehicle purchases and questioning the relevance of building renovations to peace efforts in Casamance. She alleges a serious breach of good governance principles, further criticizing the lack of sufficient justification for funds allocated in 2025 and 2026. Sonko had previously defended his management as transparent, detailing expenditures of 1.7 billion CFA francs annually for political funds, and additional sums for the Prime Ministry. He explained that funds were used for necessities like vehicles, audits, commemorative activities, and building repairs. However, Touré insists these expenditures represent a diversion of funds originally intended for peace initiatives.
