The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) will announce the replacement for former coach Pape Thiaw next Tuesday at a press conference. Thiaw was dismissed in July following Senegal’s disappointing World Cup exit, where they lost to Belgium despite leading 2-0. The FSF is under pressure to quickly appoint a new coach ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers starting in September. The new coach will also face the challenge of transitioning the team with aging veterans and integrating younger players. A preference for a Senegalese coach remains a key consideration for the FSF. While several names have been mentioned, Togolese coach Daré Nibombé has also submitted his candidacy, adding an element of surprise to the selection process. The FSF has not yet confirmed the identity of the new coach.
