A security guard in Saint-Louis, Senegal, has been arrested for intentionally setting fire to vehicles belonging to the Spanish Civil Guard. Harouna Konté, 36, was recently terminated from his position guarding the vehicles and the officers’ residences. Following his dismissal, Konté purchased gasoline and waited until the afternoon of July 30, 2026, to carry out his act of revenge. He ignited two vehicles parked in the Ndioloffène neighborhood, then disabled his phone and fled. Authorities quickly apprehended Konté, who confessed to the arson. The incident is under investigation by the Saint-Louis research brigade.
