A tragic traffic accident on the Louga-Niomré road in Senegal claimed the lives of three people on Sunday, just before the Maouloud festival. The incident involved a collision between a Peugeot 406 and a cement truck, followed by a secondary accident as another vehicle attempted to avoid the wreckage. Seven-year-old Yacine Diba and her father, Bouya Diba, were among the fatalities, along with a young man named Demba Lo. All those involved were reportedly travelling to Niomré to participate in the Maouloud, a celebration of the Prophet Muhammad's birth. Four other individuals sustained injuries and were transported to Louga Hospital, their condition currently unknown. The accident has turned a religious pilgrimage into a family tragedy, deeply impacting the community.
