Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye launched construction of the Jalibatoul Marakhib Hijama-Touba International Hospital in Ngabou, funded by private Senegalese investors with 32 billion CFA francs (approximately $53 million USD). The hospital, set to span 10,000 square meters, will significantly expand healthcare access in the Diourbel region. It will feature specialized centers for oncology and cardiology, alongside surgical, gynecological, and emergency services, including a 24/7 emergency department. Project leaders Dr. Khadim Ngom and Dr. Dame Diané aim to reduce the need for patients to seek treatment abroad and establish Senegal as a medical tourism destination. President Faye underscored the importance of private sector involvement in national development and its alignment with Senegal's 2050 vision. The project is expected to create skilled jobs and boost the local economy, addressing growing healthcare demands in the rapidly expanding city of Touba.
