El Hadji Mamour Ndiogou Ba, Khalife of the Ba family of Nioro du Rip, Senegal, has died in Dakar after a long illness. Born in Nioro du Rip in 1930, he descended from Almamy Tafsir Maba Diakhou Ba, a significant figure in the history of Islam and resistance in the Rip. He was also connected to the royal family of Sine through his marriage to Ndèye Fatou Diouf, a direct descendant of the Diakhao Sine royal family. Before becoming Khalife, he dedicated his life to public education, serving as a head supervisor at the Blaise Diagne high school in Dakar. He assumed leadership of the Khalifat following the death of his brother in February 2024. His passing is deeply mourned by the community in Nioro du Rip and the wider Senegalese religious community, as he was a crucial link to the Ba family's history and Senegalese education.
