Senegal’s Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Abdourahmane Diouf, has addressed the controversy surrounding $55 million—approximately 30 billion francs CFA—mentioned by Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Lô. Appearing on Sen TV’s “Sen Show,” Diouf discussed the joint waiver agreement between Kosmos Energy and PETROSEN, suggesting the Senegalese state could have asserted its rights to the funds. He has called for an audit of the Director General of PETROSEN regarding the matter. Diouf emphasized that the contract between Kosmos and Senegal was set to expire on July 31, 2026, with a joint waiver agreement signed with PETROSEN on April 22, 2026. The Minister believes the issue transcends current and former officials involved, potentially even the President of the Republic.
