A drug trafficking scandal has emerged at Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh Hospital in Tivaouane, Senegal. The investigation began with the arrest of a street vendor found with forged prescriptions for Alpraz 1mg, a psychotropic medication. Evidence quickly pointed to involvement within the hospital, leading to the arrest of a security guard suspected of stealing and fraudulently completing prescription forms using a stolen medical stamp. A search of the guard’s home yielded the suspected counterfeit stamp. Both the vendor and the security guard are being held on charges including forgery, theft, and illegal drug activity. Authorities are continuing to investigate the extent of the network and identify any additional individuals involved in the illicit operation. The case highlights concerns regarding the control of regulated medications within the public healthcare system.
