Former Senegalese international footballer Bineta Sylla died on Wednesday, June 17th, after being struck by a vehicle in Ouakam, Dakar. Sylla was riding a scooter when the collision occurred, and the driver reportedly fled the scene. The accident proved fatal, and she died at the location. Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances and identify the responsible party. Sylla played for Sirènes de Grand-Yoff, later Jappo Olympique de Guédiawaye, and represented the Senegalese women’s national team multiple times. She was a key player in the 2012 African Women’s Cup of Nations team, starting in a match against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
