Captain Ndeye Yacine Faye, head of the Airport Transportation Gendarmerie Company, has departed from her position at the Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) in Senegal. Captain Faye was a pioneer, joining the National Gendarmerie in 2006 as part of the first cohort of women admitted to the institution and rising through the ranks to become the first woman to lead the airport security unit responsible for Dakar and Thiès. Her career was also recognized internationally, receiving training supported by the Elsie Fund for Women in Peace Operations, preparing her for potential UN peacekeeping deployments. A farewell ceremony hosted by airport authorities, AIBD Assistance Services, and the National Gendarmerie honored her years of dedication and professionalism. Attendees praised her strong sense of duty, consistent availability, and unwavering commitment to airport safety and operational performance. Captain Faye’s departure marks the end of an era for the Senegalese airport community.
