A Chilean prosecutor is investigating a potential corruption scheme within Junaeb, the national school food program, involving alleged bribery and illicit payments. The investigation centers on Soser S.A., a food service provider, and led to searches of the office and seizure of the phone of Senator Miguel Ángel Calisto, a former regional director of Junaeb. Newly uncovered documents reveal that Matías Pizarro O’Ryan, Soser S.A.’s general manager, served as secretary for Proyecto Futuro, a foundation currently under investigation for fiscal fraud. The foundation’s legal representative is Roland Cárcamo, Calisto’s former campaign chief who regularly publicized the senator’s activities. Attempts to contact Pizarro for comment have been unsuccessful. This connection raises questions about potential conflicts of interest and the extent of the alleged corruption network. The probe continues as authorities seek to uncover the full scope of the illicit activity.
