A strike by approximately 500 SAS cabin crew is set to begin on Saturday, August 8th at 4:00 AM. This follows a rejection of a proposed wage and working conditions agreement reached earlier this summer with mediation assistance. The agreement, initially intended to resolve stalled negotiations from earlier in the year, was voted down by a majority of union members. The Norwegian Union of Cabin Crew (Fellesforbundet) has issued a strike notice as a result of the failed vote. This action threatens travel disruptions for SAS passengers. Previous negotiations, facilitated by the national mediator, had briefly appeared to avert industrial action. The dispute centers on terms of employment and compensation for cabin staff.
