Rīga is actively working to increase biodiversity within its city limits as summer arrives. The Latvian Fund for Nature reports that 27 new habitats specifically designed for invertebrates will be established throughout the city. These habitats aim to support insect populations and enhance the urban ecosystem. Alongside these installations, two additional meadow areas will be incorporated into Rīga’s existing network of green spaces. The initiative is timed to coincide with the peak of the summer season and the approach of Midsummer, when urban meadows are flourishing. This project reflects a growing focus on creating more sustainable and ecologically diverse urban environments. The goal is to provide crucial support for invertebrate life within the city.
