Russian drone strikes damaged two civilian cargo ships in the Black Sea overnight, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba reported. The vessels were en route to Ukrainian ports at the time of the attack. A 58-year-old Egyptian national died as a result of a separate incident aboard a Panama-flagged ship. Some of the crew from that vessel were forced to evacuate onto a life raft. The attacks represent a continued threat to commercial shipping in the region amid the ongoing conflict. Ukrainian authorities have not yet released details regarding the extent of the damage to the ships. This incident raises further concerns about maritime safety in the Black Sea.
