Russia is planning to establish eight new “Russian Houses” – cultural centers – across Africa, according to Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR). These centers aim to expand Russia’s cultural and political influence on the continent, potentially cultivating a pro-Russian sentiment among younger generations. Currently, Russia operates such centers in Egypt and South Africa. The HUR reports the new locations will include Algeria, Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Tanzania. Ukraine views this expansion as a deliberate effort to undermine its international support and counter Western influence in Africa. The initiative includes educational programs, language courses, and cultural events designed to promote a positive image of Russia. Ukraine’s intelligence suggests this is part of a broader strategy to strengthen Russia’s geopolitical position globally.
