Hundreds of runners participated in Sydney’s Greenway Parkrun on Saturday to honour the memory of Professor Richard Scolyer, a renowned neurologist who recently passed away. Scolyer was a dedicated participant in the weekly event, considering Greenway Parkrun his “special place.” The run served as a tribute to his life beyond his distinguished medical career, highlighting his passion for running and community. Participants wore blue ribbons in remembrance of Scolyer, a colour representing brain cancer awareness, the disease he battled. Organisers noted a significant increase in attendance, with many joining to show their respect and support for his family. The event underscored Scolyer’s impact both within and outside the medical field, celebrating his spirit and love for running. His wife, Gail, also participated in the run.
