Romania’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced Tuesday that physical progress on the first section of the A8 highway, connecting Târgu Mureș and Miercurea Nirajului, has reached approximately 50%. State Secretary Horațiu Cosma indicated the section is currently on track for completion and opening to traffic in 2027. The A8 highway, also known as the Unirii Highway, is a major infrastructure project intended to improve transportation links across the country. This first lot represents a significant milestone in the overall development of the highway. Further updates on the project’s timeline and remaining sections are expected as construction continues. The project aims to boost regional connectivity and economic development in the area.
