Romanian transport operators are urging the Parliament and Government to intervene, ensuring reductions in fuel excise taxes are fully passed on to consumers. The Small and Medium Enterprises Romania organization (IMM România) and the Romanian Freight Forwarders Federation (FORT) fear that benefits from the tax cut may be absorbed by intermediaries in the fuel pricing chain. They specifically request measures to prevent companies from diminishing or completely negating the excise reduction. Transporters argue the intended price relief should be clearly reflected at fuel stations for drivers. This request highlights concerns about price manipulation and a lack of transparency in the fuel market. Both organizations emphasize the necessity of a direct impact on fuel costs for the transportation sector and the public. Failure to guarantee this, they warn, will undermine the purpose of the tax reduction.
