Following the failure of a previous nomination, Romanian President Nicușor Dan has proposed Adrian Veștea, a leader from the National Liberal Party (PNL), to form a new government. Key figures within the Social Democratic Party (PSD), the current ruling party, have indicated they are open to supporting Veștea’s nomination. This stance suggests a potential continuation of the existing coalition. The previous nominee, Eugen Tomac, withdrew his candidacy after it became clear his proposed government lacked parliamentary support. PSD officials believe the party has no reason to oppose Veștea, hinting at a likely vote of confidence. This development aims to resolve a period of political uncertainty following the unsuccessful first attempt to establish a new executive.
