Romanian interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced on Tuesday that the National Liberal Party (PNL) is considering a bilateral political agreement with designated Prime Minister Luca Niculescu. This potential agreement would involve supporting the Niculescu Government without actually joining the governing coalition. As part of this arrangement, PNL commits to refraining from initiating or voting for any motions of no confidence against the Niculescu Government for the first six months. This support is conditional upon Prime Minister Niculescu upholding certain principles, details of which were not immediately disclosed. The PNL’s decision represents a strategic move to provide stability while maintaining a degree of opposition influence. This agreement would allow the Luca Niculescu Government to operate with a degree of parliamentary certainty in its initial period. The PNL will therefore act as an outside supporter, rather than a direct participant, in the new administration.
