A leading member of Romania’s National Liberal Party (PNL) has signaled the potential for a swift no-confidence vote against the current government led by Prime Minister Vasile Grindeanu. Alexandru Muraru, PNL vice-president and Iași county leader, expressed skepticism that the Social Democratic Party (PSD) would uphold any agreement for temporary PNL support. He anticipates the need to initiate a censure motion, referring to it as a “guillotine.” This declaration suggests a breakdown in potential cross-party cooperation. Muraru characterized the PSD as a “completely toxic” party, further indicating deep-seated political antagonism. The PNL leadership, including Ilie Bolojan, appears to be preparing for a confrontation with the governing coalition. This development raises concerns about political stability within Romania.
