Romania’s national eighth-grade exam continued today with the mathematics portion, which teachers report presented a moderate level of difficulty. Gabriela Dăneț, a mathematics teacher at a Bucharest high school, indicated that geometry problems were particularly challenging. She anticipates few students will achieve a perfect score on this year’s exam. However, Dăneț believes well-prepared students should still be able to pass with a grade of 8 or higher. The exam included multiple-choice questions, testing a range of mathematical concepts. This year’s geometry section appears to be unusually difficult, according to the teacher’s observations. The evaluation continues with further testing in other subjects.
