Romania’s Labor Inspectorate levied over 7.7 million lei (approximately €1.6 million) in fines during inspections conducted between July 6th and 10th. The crackdown revealed 283 instances of undeclared labor, highlighting significant non-compliance with employment regulations. Consequently, inspectors issued more than 2,200 directives aimed at rectifying the identified irregularities. These findings suggest a continued issue of employers avoiding legal obligations regarding their workforce. The penalties underscore the Inspectorate’s commitment to enforcing labor laws and protecting workers' rights. The scale of the fines indicates a substantial level of illegal employment activity across various sectors.
