Romanian companies, including SMEs and startups, will be able to apply for grants of up to €15 million starting September 1, 2026. These grants are intended to support investments in electrical energy storage capacities using batteries. Funding is available through the Modernization Fund, financed by European funds. The scheme aims to incentivize companies to develop “stand-alone” battery projects. This initiative provides a significant opportunity for Romanian businesses to modernize their energy infrastructure. Details are outlined in an official guide accompanying the announcement. The aid scheme is expected to boost the country’s energy independence and renewable energy integration.
