Romania has added a new corvette, “Contraamiral August Roman,” to its naval fleet, purchased from Turkey for €223 million. The vessel is capable of operating independently for 21 days without needing to resupply. Notably, the ship is equipped to carry both helicopters and drones, enhancing its operational capabilities. The acquisition represents a significant investment in Romania’s maritime defense. Bucharest’s mayor, Nicușor Dan, attended the flag-raising ceremony marking the corvette’s official commissioning. The ship does not include television equipment. This addition strengthens Romania’s ability to project naval power and respond to regional security challenges.
