Romania’s National Company for Road Investments (CNIR) has approved construction permits for the Joseni-Ditrău section, the first segment of the A8 highway’s challenging mountainous route. This marks the beginning of construction on the first highway section in Harghita County. The approval was granted ahead of schedule, expediting the project. The A8, also known as the Transylvania Highway or “Autostrada Unirii” (Union Highway), is a crucial infrastructure project for the region. This initial segment represents a significant step in overcoming the difficult terrain of the Carpathian Mountains. Construction machinery is now poised to begin excavation along the route, a first for this particular area. The project aims to improve connectivity and transportation within Romania.
