Mongolia’s regional Naadam festivals, a celebration of traditional sports and culture, are scheduled to commence this weekend, beginning July 24th and running through the 26th. The festivals will be held across the country, with the western Naadam taking place in Zavkhan province, the eastern Naadam in Sukhbaatar, and the Gobi region’s Naadam in Dundgovi. However, due to an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in western provinces, the Naadam festivals in Bayan-Olgii, Uvs, and Khovd have been postponed until August 1st. Last year's western Naadam was held in Uvs province. Separately, a Naadam festival in Orkhon province, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Erdenet city, will be held from July 22nd to 25th. These festivals represent a significant cultural event for Mongolians.
