A new survey from SMVdanmark reveals that excessive bureaucracy is significantly impacting Danish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The study, based on responses from 1,166 companies, found that SMEs spend an average of 7.4 hours weekly navigating administrative hurdles. This translates to the equivalent of 83,500 full-time jobs lost to bureaucratic processes annually. The financial burden is substantial, costing businesses an estimated 53 billion kroner each year. SMVdanmark argues these resources could be better allocated to growth and innovation. The findings highlight the considerable economic impact of administrative burdens on the Danish business sector and underscore calls for simplification of regulations. The survey suggests a significant portion of company time is diverted from core business activities due to compliance requirements.
