Mongolian Railways (UBTZ) and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on wildlife conservation and eco-friendly infrastructure development. The agreement focuses on modifying railway fencing in the Dornogovi Province to reduce negative impacts on animal migration. Specifically, existing fencing will be upgraded to meet the MNS70422024 standard, designed to be more permeable to wildlife. The project will be implemented in partnership with the Dornogovi Province administration. Monitoring will be conducted to assess the effectiveness of the new fencing. This initiative aims to balance railway operations with the preservation of Mongolia’s biodiversity. Representatives from both organizations were present at the signing ceremony.
