Reports of anti-social behaviour on public transport in Ireland decreased last year, but passenger perceptions of safety haven’t improved. Despite the fall in incidents, many individuals still feel unsafe while travelling. Irish Rail recorded the highest number of reported incidents among transport providers. The decrease is attributed to increased security measures and more consistent reporting procedures. However, ongoing issues include instances of public intoxication, vandalism, and disruptive behaviour. Authorities acknowledge the discrepancy between statistics and public feeling, promising continued efforts to enhance safety and address remaining concerns. Further investment in security personnel and improved monitoring systems are planned.
