A Norwegian psychologist has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison for repeatedly sexually abusing his daughter over a seven-year period, beginning when she was six or seven years old. The abuse escalated to include sexual intercourse from ages 11 to 12, according to the court’s ruling. The defendant maintains his innocence and has appealed the verdict, claiming the allegations stem from false memories. However, the court firmly rejected this claim, stating it was “completely impossible” the memories were fabricated. The man previously served as an expert witness in numerous legal cases involving child interviews, credibility assessments, and false memory syndrome. His daughter, represented by a legal aid attorney, expressed relief at the verdict but disappointment over the appeal, hoping to move forward. The case was initially reported by Khrono and further details were provided to NRK.
