Professional associations in the country will hold elections to fill 13 of 27 positions on a key nominating committee. This committee is responsible for selecting six candidates to be considered for the leadership role at the General State Comptroller’s Office. The Comptroller’s Office is the nation’s top auditing body. The professional bodies will therefore have significant influence over who is ultimately nominated to head the office. The election aims to ensure representation from various professional sectors within the selection process. This process is a critical step in maintaining transparency and accountability in the appointment of the Comptroller. The remaining committee members are appointed through other means, but the professional bodies hold a majority.
