US engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney is closing its Israeli factory after more than 50 years of operation. The plant, previously owned by the Wertheimer family and operating as BTL, is located in northern Israel. Approximately 600 workers will be laid off as a result of the closure, following a four-year effort to prevent it. The decision concludes a prolonged struggle to maintain manufacturing operations at the site. No specific reasons for the closure were detailed in the initial report, but it marks the end of a significant industrial presence in the region. The closure impacts a substantial number of employees and the local economy.
