Prague has approved a plan to repurpose over 435 million Czech crowns originally allocated for Covid-19 relief measures. These funds, stemming from the now-closed INFIN 2018 and COVID Prague 2020 financial instruments – supported by European funds – will now be directed towards infrastructure projects. Specifically, a significant portion will be used for the restoration of Prague’s historical monuments. The remaining funds will be invested in expanding the capacity of schools within the city. This reallocation reflects a shift in priorities as the immediate health crisis subsides. The decision aims to address long-term needs in cultural preservation and education. The city council emphasizes the efficient use of previously earmarked European funding.
