Prague officials have approved a plan to repurpose over 435 million Czech crowns (approximately $18.7 million USD) originally allocated for Covid-19 relief measures. The funds, sourced from the now-closed INFIN 2018 and COVID Prague 2020 financial instruments – primarily European funds – will now be directed towards the renovation of historical landmarks throughout the city. A significant portion of the money will also be invested in expanding and improving Prague’s school infrastructure. The decision follows the conclusion of the initial programs the funds were intended for. City leaders state this reallocation allows for long-term investment in crucial areas benefiting residents. The move aims to address infrastructure needs and enhance educational opportunities within the capital. This represents a shift in priorities as the immediate health crisis subsides.
