The Directorate-General for the Arts (DGArtes) in Portugal has announced the results of its 2025 Project Support Program, funding 84 out of 275 applications. A total of 189 projects will not receive support, with the vast majority – 158 – being completely excluded from funding. This announcement follows a competitive application process. The program aimed to bolster artistic endeavors across Portugal. The significant number of rejected projects highlights the competitive nature of arts funding within the country. DGArtes did not specify the reasons for the rejections, but the decision impacts numerous artists and cultural organizations.
