A bacterial contamination has led to the closure of the water slide at Pori’s outdoor swimming pool in Finland. Pseudomonas aureginosa, a bacterium that thrives in moist environments, was detected in samples taken from the slide’s plunge pool. The city of Pori announced the findings on Tuesday evening, following sample collection on Monday. The closure is expected to remain in effect at least through Midsummer’s Eve, a major holiday. Officials have not yet specified the potential severity of illness the bacteria could cause, but are taking preventative measures. Further testing and cleaning will be conducted before the slide is reopened to the public.
