Polish President Andrzej Nawrocki has vetoed two bills passed by parliament, one concerning the regulation of cryptocurrencies and the other regarding the employment of doctors trained abroad. The cryptocurrency bill aimed to establish a legal framework for digital assets, including taxation and investor protection measures. The second bill sought to streamline the process for foreign-trained doctors to practice in Poland, addressing a shortage of medical professionals. President Nawrocki cited concerns over potential risks to financial stability and national security related to the cryptocurrency legislation. Regarding the doctors’ bill, he expressed reservations about the potential impact on the quality of healthcare and the need for further evaluation. The presidential office stated both vetoes were made after careful consideration and consultation with legal experts. Parliament now has the option to override the vetoes with a three-fifths majority vote, or to amend the bills to address the President’s concerns.
