Poland’s President Karol Nawrocki has revoked the Order of the White Eagle, the country’s highest honor, from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The order had been originally bestowed upon Zelenskyy in 2023 by then-President Andrzej Duda. Professor Michał Kleiber, commenting on the decision, stated he was not surprised and had even supported the move, believing it would resolve a recent public disturbance. The revocation follows weeks of debate and controversy surrounding Zelenskyy’s relationship with Poland and historical issues. Kleiber indicated the decision brings closure to a matter that had been disrupting public peace for three weeks. The move signals a shift in the political climate between the two nations. It reflects a disagreement over recent statements and actions related to historical conflicts and current geopolitical strategies.
