The “Freedom of Speech” Medals were presented in Gdańsk at the European Solidarity Centre. Sister Małgorzata Chmielewska, editor-in-chief of “Liberté!”, Leszek Jażdżewski, and Natalia Panczenko from the Stand with Ukraine Foundation, were among the honorees. The awards recognize their commitment to free expression and independent reporting. Notably, Belarusian journalist and opposition figure Andrzej Poczobut received a special distinction. This special medal acknowledges Poczobut’s courageous work despite facing political persecution. The gala celebrated individuals dedicated to upholding journalistic freedom and human rights. The awards underscored the importance of a free press, especially in challenging political climates.
