Maciej Berek will take the oath as a judge of the Constitutional Tribunal (Trybunału Konstytucyjnego) in the Sejm (Parliament) on Wednesday, as reported by TVN24. This confirmation came from Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, Piotr Zgorzelski. Berek, a former close associate of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, will be yet another judge of the Constitutional Tribunal to swear in at the lower house of Parliament rather than at the Presidential Palace. This follows a similar decision made by four judges selected in March, who were subsequently not invited by Karol Nawrocki to Krakowskie Przedmieście. The situation highlights an ongoing dispute surrounding appointments to the Constitutional Tribunal in Poland. This move represents a continuation of the trend of judges bypassing the traditional swearing-in ceremony at the Presidential Palace, a point of contention in the broader political landscape.
