Following instructions from State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed, police in Faridpur, Bangladesh have initiated a drive to collect locally made weapons. The effort focuses on the conflict-prone union areas of Gotti, Majhardia, and Sonapur within the Saltha Upazila, the State Minister’s constituency. The first day of the drive resulted in the collection of only 23 weapons. Authorities aim to reduce violence and maintain peace in these historically troubled areas. The initiative comes in response to ongoing concerns about local disputes escalating. Further details regarding the types of weapons collected and the duration of the drive have not yet been released. The operation intends to proactively address potential unrest before it intensifies.
