Poland will now send SMS alerts to citizens when its fighter jets are scrambled due to potential missile threats originating from western Ukraine. Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński announced the change, explaining it’s a modification to the existing alert system. The decision stems from the possibility of rockets launched towards Ukraine altering course and entering Polish airspace. Previously, alerts were not consistently issued in such scenarios. Kierwiński emphasized that the adjustments are based on lessons learned from recent experiences, aiming to improve public safety and awareness. This proactive measure seeks to provide timely information to the population during heightened risk situations. The system modification reflects a commitment to adapting security protocols based on evolving threats.
