Poland’s Ministry of National Defence announced plans to increase the use of SMS alerts to warn citizens of potential dangers, specifically including situations involving the scrambling of fighter jets. Deputy Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka revealed ongoing discussions with the Government Centre for Security (RCB) to improve the alert system. This decision follows the recent crash of a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile in Tarnawa-Kolonia, prompting a review of current emergency protocols. The aim is to provide quicker and more widespread notification to the public regarding potential threats. The government intends to “send more” alerts via SMS to ensure citizens are informed.
