Poland’s Health Minister, Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda, announced plans to collect data on medical professionals’ salaries using national identification numbers (PESEL). The initiative aims to create a clear picture of actual earnings within the healthcare system and address existing pay inequalities. Minister Sobierańska-Grenda emphasized the importance of eliminating “pay chimneys,” referring to significant discrepancies in compensation for similar roles. Several solutions regarding remuneration are currently under consideration by the ministry. The data collection is intended to inform policy decisions and promote fairer wages for healthcare workers. The Minister stated she wants to clearly communicate the details of these plans. This move seeks to improve transparency and equity in healthcare compensation across Poland.
